For those of you that are Democrat and live in the state of Maryland, the Governor for that state is determined by two places. The two places are Baltimore City and Prince Georges County. The reason for this fact is due the population size and , the fact that population votes majority Democrat in all of the elections to date. The current Governor, who has ate of the backs of black people , has treat both locations in the state of Maryland like crap recently.
One should be reminder that O'Malley did not earn his slot as governor or as a former Baltimore City Mayor. He got lucky. In the Baltimore City situation, for some odd reason all the candidates finance history was used as major factors in that race but O'Malley drunk driving record was not. In the case of the Governors race, at the last minute, the front runner withdrew and, this left O'Malley as your only choice. If you want examples of his actions, you may want to contact the grass root group titled "People for Change in Prince Georges County".
This group along with the Mayors of the PG county are planning to hold a town hall Meeting to talk about various issues effecting their community.
Mayor Eugene W. Grant, President of the Maryland Black Mayors, Inc. today announced that the organization is hosting an Emergency Town Hall Meeting to discuss the distribution of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 also known as the Federal Stimulus Package. Additionally, the organization sent a letter to Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley urging his attendance to address the mayors and the public about [his] intentions to ensure that African-American communities in Prince George’s County receive equitable funding.
“Far too long have the black communities not received the level of funding and support needed to address the unmet needs of the community. It is the responsibility of the mayors to fight for the residents of their communities and it is the Governor’s responsibility to ensure adequate resources are assessable”, stated Grant.
The Emergency Community Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Glenarden Gold Room - 8600 Glenarden Parkway, Glenarden, MD. A three-member panel is being developed to ask the governor questions in the areas of education, foreclosures, and economic development. We conservatively estimate that over 1,000 people will attend this meeting and will be eager to hear from how the governor plans to ensure equitable distribution of financial resources to Prince George’s County.
A copy of the invite letter to the Governor has been attached.
