The College is Cool movement promoted a DMV(DC, Maryland , Virginia) battle of the bands. This event received funding from Angie Ang, Quick Silva , DTL(Downtown Locker Room) and Radio One WKYS. College is Cool is a non profit organization started by Angie Ang of 93.9 WKYS and co host of the 6-10pm spot. The purpose of the event was to allow DMV's high school marching bands to compete in a competition that would allow them to show case their hard work and talents. The prize was $1000 for the main marching band and $500 for the drum line and $500 for the dance section of the band.
This event was a packed house at Wise High School in PG County , MD. Many families came out to support the event and the local high schools that took part were Ballou, Eastern, Suitland, Largo, and Fairmont Heights high schools. The video below shows the fun that all the bands had. Ballou High School marching band was the winner of the event.
