Marc Clarke of the ex Big Phat Morning Show is no more at Radio One's Baltimore station 92Q. Clarke was the morning show host for almost 10 years and, the ratings at the show were high. People in the industry are saying no one is safe any more. If you have high ratings, good ad dollars and liked in the community, you are not safe if the company can save money by letting you go. Clarke along with Sonjay Decaires were let go. Sonjay is the alleged friend booty call chic of Pork CHop the co host that may be shifted to a later time at 92Q.

Clarke, who is married to Fox DC news person Allison Seymour, was fired just before the holidays. Clarke has kids bills and a lifestyle. People are hoping this will not set the Clarke family back. The corporate bottom line has no heart. People are saying that Rickey Smiley will replace Clarke. Ricky Smiley has a syndicated morning show.

People are forgetting radio has changed. There is new media or forms of entertainment and new technology. Syndication is cheaper and , this will effect more radio host as time passes and , it has caused Clarke his job. Another factor effecting the payrolls in the radio game and more in urban markets is the Portable People Meter. Recent reports in the D.C. market have placed large urban stations at the bottom of the ratings. This is sad because the Portable People Meter is highly flawed as a measuring tool for listeners.
