Life Safer is an interlock service provider within the United States. An ignition interlock device is a handheld car breathalyzer device and measures the amount of alcohol in the user’s breath. Another way to describe an interlock is in-car breathalyzer that prevents a user from starting a vehicle until a breath alcohol test is taken.

LifeSafer in most cases is not regulated on the prices charged to customers. Lifesafer has government contracts with many state motor vehicle administrations. Life Safer is 3 times higher than all other interlock providers across the country. For example, Lifesafer uninstall fee is 150 for approved removal and 250 for un approved.

To some, this is a case of gouging. If a user removes the device them self, they face criminal charges. Other companies in the same business charge 50 to 100 for both install and removal. If you call Lifesafer and ask them about their prices, they will tell you the state sets the fee.

On the other hand calling a local department of motor vehicle aka dmv or mva, they will say all vendors set the prices. Most people would believe the state mva statement over a service provider for profit.

While choosing an interlock service provider, one should be aware of the price and hidden fees that will be attached similar to Lifesafer.
