Modern medical research has published many papers on the Braca gene and the breast cancer relationship. The only problem with the research is women of African descent have not been found with the Brca gene but have been found with breast cancer and a family history of Breast Cancer. Medical insurance companies are the problem.

The healthcare insurance companies will not cover the pre-screening for breast cancer unless the Brca gene is found or a family history of breast cancer is known. One woman is fighting to change this policy for women. For example, the published standard for a mammogram check is 40 but , for women of African descent, the age is 30.

Paulette Leaphart had a double mastectomy in 2014 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. That moment sparked her journey as not only a breast cancer survivor, and an activist. She did an interview recently on the Roland Martin Show and goes into more detail about breast cancer for African American women.
