Although gentrification effects most urban areas , poor areas and areas that present potential for low purchase real estate into high profits down the road, the African American community along with aging communities feel the most of the practice.

In Southeast part of the District of Columbia, a town hall meeting was held to talk about this practice of gentrification.
Black Lawyers for Justice has assembled a panel of national and well known local community leaders, who are also D.C. residents who will speak and chair the emergency hearing:
