Was Fatman Scoop an ex groupie

Fatman Scoop is best known as a hype man and radio host slash DJ. In a recent interview in Sister 2 Sister, Fatman Scoop along with his wife talked about themselves and their history. It appears Fatman Scoopy may have been an ex groupie based on this following statement.
“ I rapped and wound up getting a deal with Teddy Riley because I was from Harlem. Teddy and them was from Harlem. I used to hang out on his block with his brother and all those people. So when he blew up with New Jack swing, we got a deal because we were the rappers from the block.”
It appears this deal fell apart because one the group members had a fallen out with Teddy Riley. Isaac or Fatman Scoop stayed with his group but nothing much became of it. He later hooked up with the BAD BOY farm team and after that Isaac became a music rep and radio host or voice over.
Scoop goes over how he used to have ghetto security. Ghetto security is 20 friends with you while you are featured at an event. He claims this caused a lot of problems for him and, he drop this bad habit. Although Scoop had an eating disorder as a child, he is happy with his shape. He and his lovely wife Shanda host an online and soon to be MTV show from their bedroom.
