We will all certainly miss having Regis be a part of our day." was a statement taken from the press release based on Philbin's retirement statement.
Yet, the press release does not answer the question. The rumor mill is stating many things. For example, the ratings are down and, Philbin did not want to deal with the pressure anymore. Some are making long shot statments that Philbin is ill?
With all this gossip going around, the answer will not be known for sometime now.
