Jill Scott is at the top of the world in one part of life. She has movies, hot selling songs and career success. On the other end of her life, she has pain and trouble waters. Jill's marriage is over and family members appear to be having health issues. It is allegedly that her ex husband my receive a 10 million dollar divorce settlement. This might explain Jill Scott's comments in a recent interview in Sister 2 Sister magazine. If you read the following quotes, you may have an opinion about Jill's current state of mind.
Jamie: See, that's the problem. I always say this: Black men don't have the opportunities that White men have or White women or even Black women. But whoever gets in front of the door, be it the child be it the mother or the wife, whatever, then the whole family comes through that door to help support that particular person who's working to make life better. You know what I mean? But Black men, it's just hard for them, I think.
Jill: That's a tough one, because I think that it's important to instill in your children a work ethic. And a lot of our Black men don't have a work ethic. A lot of our people believe that we're supposed to just get stuff, that we'er supposed to just because ('we'er) there, and I Just disagree. When you go to McDonald's and you see somebody has taken your order and not even looking at your face or whatever, I mean, you know that there's other things that are going on in that person's life. However, you are at work! And if you want to make it to shift manager, or if you want to one day own your own restaurant, or if you just want to get through school, whatever the case is, put some effort in it ! Work! Actually work! Actually work! Be considerate, be Polite and be on time!
Jamie: You've always said he was a good man Jill: He is. He definitely is, but this business is hard on a relationship, I think, and you know how it is with men and women. Sometimes when the women is moving forward, the man feels some kind of way. You know, it just seems like that's the disease or something within the black community.
